Description

Refreshing, homemade lemonade infused with the warming flavor of ginger and turmeric root and sweetened with honey.

Ingredients
  • 2 inches turmeric root, peeled and halved
  • 3 inches ginger root, peeled and halved
  • 6 cups water, divided
  • 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 cups lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon honey
Instructions
    Make the Ginger and Turmeric Sweetener
  1. Pour 2 cups of water, the granulated sugar, peeled ginger, and peeled turmeric into a medium saucepan.

  2. Place the saucepan over medium-high heat. Stir the liquid often, until the sugar dissolves completely, about 10 minutes. 

  3. Remove the pan from the heat and let the spices steep for another 5 minutes.

  4. Strain the sweetener into a heat proof container. Discard the ginger and turmeric root. Let the sweetener cool completely.

  5. Make the Ginger Turmeric Lemonade
  6. In a large pitcher, pour the lemon juice. Mix with 4 cups water, honey, and the ginger turmeric sweetener. Stir to combine.

  7. Store the lemonade in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Serve over ice and enjoy!
