Easy Jalapeno Lime Margarita

Easy Jalapeno Lime Margarita

Spice Up Your Life

I do my best to keep things simple, but still feel fancy, when it comes to making cocktails at home. We don’t make them much, but if we do I’m looking for it to feel like an occasion, without needing to buy many extra ingredients. I’m also one of Trader Joe’s biggest fans.  Their selection of pre-made, seasonal foods gets me every time, but I’d never tried their Jalapeno Limeade until this year. I’d always been intrigued, but couldn’t picture myself just sipping on some spicy limeade - then *lightbulb* - why don’t I add some booze, some bubbles, and turn this into a cocktail? You may be on the fence about a spicy drink, since a drink is supposed to cool you off, right?  While there is a bit of a kick to this cocktail, it doesn’t overpower it.  It’s so refreshing, but with a little bit of intrigue, a je ne sais quoi, a tickle for your mouth between bites. ‍

Tips for Making an Easy Jalapeño Lime Margarita

This cocktail is so simple, the area you can't skip on is the fresh garnish. It turns this from a simple mixed drink, to a fresh, smokey, refreshing cocktail. A fresh squeeze of lime and slices of jalapeño not only make this drink a beauty to look at, but the taste goes from 0 to 100 very fast! My other tip for this cocktail, is that unfortunately Trader Joe's doesn't sell th jalapeño limeade year-round. If you're craving this drink, but low on supply, you can instead use regular limeade and add extra slices of jalapeño. Let the jalapeño slices steep for awhile before topping it with sparkling water. ‍

The Recipe Details

This cocktail recipe is unbelievably simple.  Trader Joes did most of the work on this one by creating their jalapeno limeade, which is typically only available in the summer. The juice is perfectly sweet and the right amount of smoky, jalapeno kick. Add the extra smokiness of a good mezcal and some sparkling water (because I like all my cocktails to have a few bubbles in it), and you’re ready for the easiest cocktail that will impress anyone. Make it for your end of summer party, whip one up for taco Tuesday, or just make one midday without the mezcal in it to get you through a long work day.
