Summertime Sipping

This Aperol Paloma Spritz is my ultimate summer cocktail. Imagine an Aperol Spritz and a Paloma had a baby and it would be this cocktail. It’s citrusy and light like a Paloma, but slightly bitter and bubbly like an Aperol Spritz. Being a fan of both of these cocktails, especially in the summertime, I had an inkling that combining the two would be absolutely delicious, and boy was I right. It’s refreshing, yet complex, and oh so tasty.

What You’ll Need

Ingredients

To make this Aperol Paloma Spritz recipe, you’ll need the following ingredients:

• Tequila Blanco
• Aperol
• Lime juice
• Grapefruit soda, like Squirt
• Prosecco
• Sparkling Water
• Lime and grapefruit slices

• Drink pitcher (like this one from Amazon or this one from Crate)
• Measuring jigger
• Spoon
• Cocktail Glass
• Cutting board and knife

Tips for Mixing This Spritz

When you make an Aperol Paloma Spritz, here are a few tips to make sure it’s perfect:

• This recipe is easy to scale up, which is why I recommend starting out with measuring a few of the ingredients in a pitcher. You can double or triple the Aperol, Tequila, and lime juice, mix it in the pitcher, and then divide it amongst glasses. From there, top each drink off with the sparkly liquids and you’ve saved yourself a few minutes of work!
• For drinkers who don’t love the bitterness of Aperol, reduce the amount by half or add an additional splash of the grapefruit soda. This will make the cocktail lean onto the sweeter side, making it more enjoyable for people sensitive to the bitter flavor.

How to Make an Aperol Paloma Spritz

To start out this spritz cocktail, measure the Aperol, tequila, and lime juice into a cocktail pitcher. Measuring out and mixing this step first makes it much easier to scale the recipe up and then divide the base mixture among glasses. Give the Aperol and tequila mixture a stir and then pour it into a glass filled with ice. 

Top off the cocktail with grapefruit soda, prosecco, and a bit of sparkling water. Gently stir the cocktail to mix the ingredients together. Garnish the glass with a slice of grapefruit and a slice of lime and enjoy right away. This cocktail recipe is best enjoyed on a warm summer day, preferably sitting outside on a patio!
